About Càrn Dearg (Loch Pattack)

Càrn Dearg rises above the remote Culra basin in the Ben Alder mountains, its long wedge shaped ridge overlooking Loch Pattack and the surrounding Highland wilderness. Often climbed first on a four Munro traverse, it offers extensive views towards Ben Alder, Geal Chàrn and the dramatic Lancet Edge. Reaching the mountain involves a lengthy approach from Dalwhinnie, but the quiet ridges, rocky summit and vast open landscapes reward walkers with a memorable sense of remoteness.
