About Càrn Dearg (Monadhliath)

Càrn Dearg rises to 945 metres within the remote Monadhliath Mountains, southwest of Newtonmore in the Scottish Highlands. Its broad, rounded summit overlooks expansive heather moorland, rolling ridges and secluded Highland glens. Often climbed alongside neighbouring Càrn Sgulain, this isolated Munro offers spectacular views towards the Cairngorms, Ben Nevis and surrounding mountain ranges. The lengthy approach, boggy terrain and exposed slopes create a demanding adventure, rewarding experienced walkers with remarkable solitude and beautiful wilderness scenery throughout.
