At a glance
Our notes
A peaceful one-night TentBox stay at South of Skye Motorhome Park at An Crubh. I wanted a change of scenery and a quiet night away, and the small number of pitches and remote Highland feel made it a lovely escape.
Our experience
An Crubh, South of Skye Motorhome Park
There are some campsites where the location and scenery are the main attraction, and then there are smaller sites where the peaceful atmosphere and simplicity are what make the stay special. An Crubh is definitely one of the latter.
I stayed at South of Skye Motorhome Park at An Crubh for one night in my TentBox, travelling alone and simply looking for a change of scenery. With only around five pitches, the campsite has a lovely quiet and relaxed atmosphere, which was exactly what I was looking for.
Arrival and Check-In
One of the things I really liked was how easy the arrival process was. There was no need to check in, as the barrier entry code was included in the booking confirmation. I could simply arrive, enter the code and drive straight onto my pitch.
The Setting
The campsite is surrounded by hills and large areas of open grassy marshland, giving it a wonderfully peaceful Highland feel. I particularly enjoyed being able to look out from my TentBox at the surrounding landscape and wake up somewhere completely different.
Facilities
The facilities are fairly simple, but everything I needed for a short stay was available. Drinking water and bins are located close to the pitches, while the toilet and shower facilities are inside the main An Crubh building, around a three-minute walk from the pitches.
There are two showers and one toilet, and with only a small number of pitches, the limited number of facilities wasn't an issue during my stay.
What's Nearby
Another big bonus is having the An Crubh café, shop, deli and post office just a short walk away. It meant I could get a coffee, pick up something to eat or grab a few essentials without having to drive anywhere.
What I Liked Most
What I liked most about South of Skye Motorhome Park was its simplicity. I wasn't looking for a huge campsite with loads of entertainment and facilities. I wanted somewhere peaceful where I could park up my TentBox, enjoy the scenery and spend a night somewhere different.
That is exactly what I got.
I really enjoyed my stay here, and waking up in my TentBox surrounded by the peaceful Highland landscape was one of the highlights. The small number of pitches, easy arrival process and useful facilities nearby made it a really relaxing place to spend the night.
Would I Stay Again?
Absolutely.
